1982 TO 2007

Notes about UK discography :

I have tried to be as detailed as possible with all releases, I have also included as many variations that I am aware of, by this I mean from Like A Virgin to The look of love on SIRE, they issued many 7" singles with a variety of coloured plastic labels as well as the SIRE yellow paper label.

From Like a Prayer to the Erotica era 7" singles were either manufactured in the UK or Germany and sometimes France for the UK market, these releases all carry the UK catalogue but some aspects make them different from each other notably the sleeve is either card from UK or shiny paper for Germany.

CD singles from approximately Immaculate collection era to Ray of light era can come in 2 variations, single sleeve thickness or a double sleeve thickness, as well as the rim of the disc can either have writing around it or not for most releases.

A simple explanation to variations for the same single is because it seems as a song is released the initial quantities are produced in the UK, the manufacturing of the discs be it 7", 12" or CD is then 'topped up' by German and sometimes French pressing plants, I have a True Blue 7" for the UK market pressed in France, this is the earliest French pressing I know of so far that was made with the UK catalogue for the UK market as a top up record. My earliest German pressing for the UK market with the UK catalogue number is an Into the groove 12" which has a much thicker card sleeve.

Some discographers will say there is a mispressed picture disc edition that plays the b-side in the wrong order. Please note that on all UK releases of the 'silver screen single mix' it was incorrectly printed as 'single screen single mix'.

Interestingly this was the UK's first Cassette single from Madonna, and now very rare to get a copy. As well as a very rare limited edition in the form of a shrinkwrapped 7" with free button badge, very rare.
