Laurnea : Betta Listen

This album is one of my all time favourites, Laurnea has a voice that comes across dry and smooth yet when she blows it turns into a jazzy trumpet that comes from the soul. The beautifully sweet 'Infatuation' will melt you and the body swayer 'Superstar' is a well written love song. Along with the single 'Days of youth' a hypnotic funky beat of 90's neo-soul.

Sweet / Jazzy / Funky / Melodic, I can't put my finger on a particular style but a junxtaposition of several. 15 tracks to sink into, the opener 'ain't nothing wrong' is a clunky funky stepper and slides into the dreamy 'I Remember'. Let the sunshine down and indulge into this album like galaxy chocolate.

The soul drenched 1st album from the Puff Daddy boys; 112, this album captures the essence of soul from the heart, mid-tempo throughout with the exception for the hit single 'Only you' this album is beautifully written and at times dreamy, open your heart, your ears and just let them seduce you. Stand outs include 'Pleasure & Pain' / 'Cupid' / 'Now that we're done'.

Trina Broussard : Same Girl

When I first heard this album well I was taken aback, her voice, the melodies, the lyrics, the harmonies, everything about this album spoke to me and became an instant classic. This album is not caught up with todays sound, it almost has a retro sound of when soul was pure before technology took over. 'Out/Gone' is a fantastic track, lyrics of self empowerment. 'No way out' the last track has a definite Stevie Wonder appeal about it.

Randy Crawford : Now we may begin

The lady with the sweetest voice in soul, this album her fourth released in 1980 combined groove with 'Last night at danceland' and 'Blue flame' with delicate heartfelt soul from 'Tender falls the rain' written by Randy herself. Also included on this album is the hit 'One day I'll fly away' a powerful balled. This collection of songs showcases Randy Crawfords beautiful soaring vocal ability as well as her most tender side.

This album mainly written and produced by the talented Dave Hall, released on his own Hall of Fame label via Epic comes with clean, up front beats and gentle melodies. The girls voices are on point and features the hit single 'Make up your mind'. Throughout a quality album well worth having in your collection.
